Stainless steel tube maintenance measures

The stainless steel tube is an iron-based alloy containing chromium, nickel, and often molybdenum. It only needs to meet a series of requirements and has a certain level of corrosion resistance.

This is why such alloys should not be called stainless. In principle, it is only given the title of precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. With regard to a closer analysis, the real situation is that the stainless steel tube is not a precious metal. In fact, the matrix is as common as carbon steel and is active. Common stainless steel pipe classification: stainless steel pipe, sheet, round steel, angle steel, profiles, etc.

The inert nature of the data is due to the ultra-thin passivated chromium oxide film, which plays an incredibly inert role in a humid environment. However, if there is no such film, the data is subject to a destructive corrosion process.

Therefore, it is necessary to stop the good maintenance of the film, thereby extending the service life of the stainless steel pipe, and does not present any problem. If this film of stainless steel tube is exposed to excess chemicals, it will break and cause corrosion.

When this oxide film is etched away, the chemical activates the metal, causing corrosion. However, the stainless steel tube can also repair its oxide film at the same time, which is especially useful when the film receives mechanical damage or partially loses the chromium oxide layer.

Due to the presence of oxygen in the air, the formation of a new chrome oxide layer in these areas causes the data to passivate, which is called self-recovery.

This mechanism is greatly destroyed by the presence of too much chloride in the environment. If this is the case, the chlorides of the halogen family will constitute metal salts, which are also corrosion products.

Taking stainless steel pipe as an example, this is why, after pickling, always use soft water to rinse to get proper passivation, because tap water contains too much chloride. If this is not done, the new oxide layer will be soiled and the thickness will be uneven, and such an oxide layer will not perform well.

In order to clean the appearance of stainless steel pipes, various cleaning techniques have been developed. The two most familiar are the use of organic and inorganic materials to stop cleaning, as well as anode and ultrasonic cleaning methods, in order to reduce the impact on the environment, often using organic cleaning technology. This method is quite common on stainless steel tubes.
